STRENGTHS & SKILLS:

  ✔Excellent Hearing: Yuri has developed his sense of hearing to be more acute when conducting paranormal investigations so that he can hear very faint noises.

  ✔Knife Wielding: Yuri carries a butterfly knife on his person that he plays with when he’s bored and has become adept at performing different tricks with it.

  ✔Brave: Years of going into haunted locations at night have made him only slightly creeped out by things like being alone in the dark or hearing sounds when alone.

 ✔Parkour: Yuri Learned the basics of parkour for various reasons, the biggest one being to get into buildings he wasn’t allowed into after dark.

 ✔High Pain Tolerance: He doesn’t feel pain to the point where he’d barely notice being scratched or cut depending on where it is. His arms and calves  feel less pain than the rest of his boy.

WEAKNESSES:

  ✘Susceptible to Loud Noises: Yuri’s sensitive hearing is a double-edged sword due to the fact that loud noises will ring in his ears and he’ll usually drop what he’s doing to cover his ears. If he’s aware he’s going to have to face them prior to going, he’ll bring ear plugs just in case.

 ✘ Bad Memory: His memory isn’t nearly as good as it should be. He always finds himself forgetting important things while remembering things that aren’t at all important in his situation.

  ✘Sugar and Ice: Yuri tries to act too aloof and detached despite actually being empathetic and nice. Despite being practically invisible, he frequently helped people out even if they didn’t notice, unless of course it would ruin his cool and casual facade.

 ✘Unapologetic: He doesn’t like to acknowledge the fact that he did something wrong, much less apologize for it. He’ll try as hard as he can to prevent apologizing even going as far as to avoid someone so that he won’t have to.

  ✘Delinquent: Yuri has no Qualms with breaking rules or laws. Fortunately he only breaks minor rules that won’t affect anyone else. The law he breaks the most is trespassing on private property which is almost done exclusively to get into haunted locations.

PERSONALITY:

    Reckless, stoic, awkward and self-deprecating are all words that can describe Yuri Bērzmuižnieks. He can come off as a cool cat but in reality he’s just a softie who wants to look the part. This death-obsessed boy finds little value in his efforts and more often than not, finds fault in himself for not trying as hard as he thinks he should. His low regard for himself and the law as well as his careless attitude, frequently cause him to find himself in unwanted situations, oftentimes involving the cops. His most used reason for breaking the law being to get into potential investigation locations. He prefers breaking in, to asking for permission because he’d rather avoid the possible rejection and social interaction with strangers. Due to having spent many years of his life going practically unnoticed, Yuri’s social skills and charisma have been greatly affected. He speaks to others with a sort of indelicateness, being very bad at understanding others feelings or emotions when not being directly told. Although he was frequently alone, he had learned to comport himself in a courtly manner,moving and walking with much grace. Those that did notice him right away described him as “almost like a prince until he speaks”. Though even those that did didn’t always get a chance to hear him speak. Aside from being quiet and reckless, Yuri is also very beneficial. He frequently helps people when he can, provided they don’t or can’t tell anyone that he helped, all in order to maintain his reputation. Though his methods of helping people aren’t always considered to be morally correct, the thought is still there. Lastly, he tries to be subtle about it but he’s very kind and gentle, mostly towards kids. Though his words might not reflect it, his actions do. He would frequently do things like give out the best candy at halloween or every so often babysit kids on his street (which would end up in the kids losing the babysitter).

HISTORY:

    Yuri was born in latvia but less than a year later, moved to Oregon with his family. He frequently accompanied his father in the morning when he would pick up garbage with the garbage truck. This unfortunately had to stop when school started. Yuri’s drives with his dad were instead replaced with dull classes. And to add insult to injury, everyone kept forgetting he was even there. It wasn’t uncommon that his teachers would mark him as absent when he was sitting right in front of them. In middle school, order to combat his friendless boredom, Yuri took to writing song lyrics; specifically sick as fuck bars. As he got older he began to appreciate rap music, although he preferred russian rap to english rap, he still found english rap to be pretty tight. Though the furthest he went with that in public was rapping in a talent show at his school, which he was kicked out of because his lyrics contained swear words. As he started high school he grew fond of both dinosaurs and ghosts. He watched a lot of documentaries on both topics and on long holidays would go to haunted places across the country. another important part of high school was when he finally realised he identified as genderfluid. The most difficult part for those around him was that they had to stop referring to him as a girl. Nobody really questioned his drastic wardrobe changes or reluctance to change for phys ed class. As high school was nearing its end he realised that a ghost hunter wouldn’t be a very good job because of either how difficult it would be for him to actually convince people of the existence of ghosts or what he’d even do with that. would he get a tv show like zak bagans? would he write books? who even knows. so he decided he would go to college to become a paleontologist. During the summer after graduating he finally decided he would make the trip across the country to Dodona forest, a place where he’d heard people went into, only to never be heard from again. A place like that sounded great enough even if there weren’t any ghosts.

     A young boy approached a gate. “First, check for witnesses” he turned in every direction to be certain no one or nothing could see him, cameras included. After confirmation he raised his hands and lowered his hood, his lotus-shaped ponytail popping out. “Second, climb the fence” he put his hands on the bars, pulling back and slowly put his feet on them too. Quickly and quietly he reached up slowly, being careful not to drop himself on the spikes atop the gate. Leaping to the ground after making it over, his shoes made a loud sound against the dirt path. He kneeled down, removing his backpack and taking out a video camera and EVP recorder. “let’s get this party started” he mumbled to himself before turning on the camera.
